I'm thinking ahead for a cake for my bil for the end of January. He loves riding his ATV/4-wheeler so I was thinking maybe using this as a chance to make a 3-D ATV for him. Here's a link to what it specifically looks like http://www.hondaex.com/specifications/400exspec.htm.

Any ideas on how I could do one like that? I know I could use cupcakes or something for the wheels and I will have to do a lot of carving but if I could get a visual idea of what someone's done like it, that would be awesome. I've looked at a lot of the car cakes and figure it would be similiar to that.

Any help, advice, tips would be much appreciated!!

why don't you use the 3D car cakepan and use donuts for wheels.

Hmmm....I would use chocloate covered little Debbie donuts for the tires, make the body of the 4wheeler out of cake, use fondant colored grey with silver luster dust to make some pipes for the sides, and use fondant coloredred for the seat and cover, etc. Then use the silver fondant for the handlebars.

Forgot to add, If you put the donuts on each end of skewers and tape a square cake board to the skewers (getting a visual yet?) Then that is what the cake will set on. That way it actually looks like the body of the 4wheeler is up on wheels. hat1.gif

I'll be anxious to see what you come up with for this one......guess where the name "QUADcrew" comes from?? icon_wink.gif We ride all the time, and have HUGE get togethers with other riders.....bringing a cake like that to one of them would flip them out!!

Misdawn-- You're pretty inventive!! I thought about trying to get it up like the real thing. I could paint that silver too so it would look like the after-market skid plate he has on it. Hmm... I might have to get working on this just after the new year as I think it might definitely take time!! DH and my BIL always ride together and he has the same atv so I'm sure he'll be most interested in this one!

Good luck! Post some pictures when you're finished. I'd like to see how it turns out.
