charge for Chocolate dipped oreos HELP - Page 11

I really do not care for the chocolate flavored wilton melts. The colored/vanilla ones are okay but ....

Has anyone tried any other brand of melts? The cake shop here has some and they seemed like they tasted pretty good, but are they as easy to use?

Anybody?

OMG Jescapades, there is no hope for any of us. When I open a Twinkie package I can smell the chemicals, just like Wilton's fondant.

There are people in white coats with a sedative ringing her door bell. She has gone completely nuts and they have come to take her away. The visitors in white coats hear her mumbling, "Wedding Twinkies oh no........" They tell her not to worry, they may not have Twinkie's at the hospital but she can have an Oreo cookie." icon_eek.gif

probably not and won't even try.

you're right -- they're mass produced little packages of sugar and fat.
but...some of us do like them (a wee bit too much!)

short of getting black cocoa and making your own fresh from scratch (which if anyone figures out how to do -- send me the recipe!) there just isn't an alternative.

(as for twinkie wedding cake -- ICK -- now a stack of Krispy Kreme donuts , well let's just say keep me FAR away from it for fear I'll eat them all!)

doug, how about this?

1 devil's food cake mix
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs

Mix the above ingredients together. Roll the dough into dime-sized balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Cool cookies.

FROSTING:

8 oz. cream cheese
1/2 square butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 to 4 c. powdered sugar

Mix all of frosting ingredients until smooth. Frost BACKS of cookies and place together to make sandwich cookie.

Thanks for the idea of one stop candle jescapades. They have a different assortment and are only $1.99 each!!! I got 3 for the price of one at all the other places I have looked.

sorry, i don't know. i've only ever used wilton melts and nestle milk chocolate chips for my chocolate mice. these will be my first oreos

Marthjo1, I think CK products makes some but don't hold me to it (I'm going to double check this product) but a local cake decorating store made candy with it one year and gave out samples and it was very good. I'm not a candy person at all either. They made a crunch with peppermint and one with orange candy. Looked like peanut brittle...know what I mean? She told me how to make it (not a candy making person myself) but I think it was CK. Gonna check on that for you.

I really like Guittard chocolate melts. I have found them at Longs drugs at certain times of the year. Saw them two weeks ago and picked some up.

Tiptop57 you crack me up! I thought everybody liked Oreo cookies!!!! Snowballs I know lots of people hate those. Not me, I think I love everything sweet!!!

Twinkie and Krispie Kreme's wedding cakes.....She tried to shake the cobwebs of her mind as she sat at the luncheon table at the hospital totally calm with the valium shot they had given her earlier. She ended up tracing the message from John Lennon she pasted in her diary, "Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it." The attendant came by with the silver platter of oreo cookies and offered her one and then blackness swallowed her.

Soon, very soon, when she least expects it, they will introduce little yellow Peeps into her diet. Brahahahahahaha

I'm not a fan of Wilton candy melts either. What about Mercken's? That's what I usually get at the bulk food store for other chocolates. Is that the same thing as candy melts?
