charge for Chocolate dipped oreos HELP - Page 10

Just a quick question....
I have been doing chocolates forever and can't seem to get these to pop out of the molds easily. This first batch I didn't thin the chocolate but am I nuts - I have to sort of push them out which mars the fronts...

Anybody have a tip?

(BTW< love the molds from 3Dmolds - came fast!)

I lay a clean dish cloth on the counter, flip the molds over and bang them on the dish cloth. They come out easily and the dishcloth keeps them from getting marked up, HTH.

Make sure the chocolate is completely set. They pop out best when they are COLD. HTH.

Just thought I'd add another compliment for 3dmolds.com (now www.spinningleaf.com). I am absolutely thrilled with them. In the comments section of the checkout, I asked them to please include the big heart mold as my free mold, and ta-da! They came through on it! I was totally expecting them to just give me whatever mold was most available but they actually did what I had asked! LOL icon_surprised.gif The shock of excellent customer service! icon_eek.gifthumbs_up.gif Heehee.

I also ordered from choklitmolds.com and countrykitchensa.com; very pleased with both orders as well! thumbs_up.gif

wow i just read through all 11 pages of this thread and learned something new on every page.

this is why i cove cakecentral!

somehow i will convince my parents the $6 per mold is not too expensive icon_rolleyes.gif i love the spinningleaf website (very clean and well organized) and all the great things i've heard about their customer service really makes me want to buy some molds now!!! the pawprint ones are adorable icon_biggrin.gif

I bought some really cute molds from candylandcrafts.com and made my first fancy oreos and they were a hit. They sell the molds for $1.99 each but I could only find one cute set. They have a flower, butterfly and lips. I posted pics of the coookies I made with them.

This is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've never thought to do this but am now so encouraged. I can't wait! Thanks for all the good info. Hadn't even heard of this in TN. Thanks again you guys for sharing!

Please will someone tell me what all the fuss is about chocolate covered Oreo cookies.

Doesn't Nabisco already make these?

(Please don't flame me, I really just don't get it. Seriously - I don't get it! In my mind I might as well just buy the cake at the grocery store also and bring it home to decorate it the same as these cookies. Honestly, I don't get what the fuss is about.) I'm so confused. icon_confused.gif

yes...can buy them predipped.....

B U T ....

are they predipped in premium chocolate like Ghiradelli, etc. -- NO (sorry, but what most companies call chocolate -- esp. the mass merchandise stuff, is just sweet brown junk)

do they come with interesting designs on them like crosses, hearts, etc. suitable for weddings and special parties -- NO

do they come in custom colors to match the theme/scheme of the party -- NO

so -- that's where we all come in with our CUSTOM dipped oreos

from a baker's point of view, it's the fun of decorating and creating different designs that make people happy. from a customer's point of view, sure, you can get a cake, cookies or oreos in a box, from the store, but isn't it more special when someone puts care and thought into something special for you? does nabisco care if you want their cookies for a special occasion? probably not? can they (or will they) make personalized chocolate covered oreos for your shower or birthday or holiday? nope.

you can get mass produced cookies from anywhere, but when someone puts time and effort into something special, just for you, somehow it just tastes better (if not just look better).

Thank you Doug and Jescapades for your quick reply. I do understand your point about decorating, but they are still Oreo's! Such a nasty little thing it shouldn't even be called a cookie! Might as well decorate a piece of cardboard.

Sooooooo I still just don't get it. Maybe I should pick up some Twinkies and make a wedding cake out of 'em. Can any of you on this thread convince me to eat one of those nasty little cookies? (Even if it is beautifully decorated?) I don't get it..........

some people do... and krispie creams, and those hostess cupcake things with the swirl on top and those coconut covered snowball things in abnormal colors, not found in nature. it's all a matter of taste. i can't stand chocolate covered candied orange peel, but i would never deny someone from making them, selling them or eating them.

some people like cake, some don't. (i love it, my dh doesn't) some people like oreos, some don't (i love them, my sister doesn't), some people like a twinkie wedding cake (i, personally think twinkies are nasty). that's what's wonderful about the world: to each his own!
