Ok, my daughter is turning one in a few weeks and I am trying to figure out what kind of cake I am going to do. I saw a lot of cute cakes with jungle animals on it. Is that a little too masculine for a girl? I know I can always do butterflies and girlie stuff, but they just don't seem as cute or fun to do. Opinions?

Personaly, I don't think there's anything too "masculine" aboout animals! If you want to make it a little more "girly" maybe think of doing a more "girly" base color, and/or add a few butterfly's or other animals, and/or use pastel colors, instead of brighter ones... That's all I can really think of... Hope this helps!

Welcome!! I agree-the softer/pastel colors will make it more girlie and the butterflies and flowers also "soften" it. There is a really cute monkey smash cake somewhere in the gallery. It is adorable!

I think you would be fine doing that theme...I would do your borders in pink. Maybe you could put a number 1 somewhere on the cake and decorate with pastel colors.

I did a castle cake for my nieces first birthday and had a ball doing it. I don't know if you want to do something like that but check out my pictures if you do. I got a ton of great ideas from some very talented people on here. You could always just surf through the gallery like I did and get inspiration from some of the pictures on here.
