I just wanted to see how many orders others are typically doing in a week or even a month. I just started decorating this last April and cake orders were hit and miss throughout the summer. Then this fall they started picking up a bit and lately since mid-November, i have had 2-3 orders every weekend. I have 2 little ones at home (3 and 6yrs) and i have often said to myself that i don't think i would want to take on any more than 4 per weekend right now (of course that would depend on the sizes though), if it ever got to that point anyway. Speed in decorating is an issue right now also. Does anyonoe else have a limit for themselves?

SweetDreams,

I am a hit and miss also. Sometimes I have four or five a week and other times it might be one or two a week.

About two weeks ago I had to cancel four large orders(Church Anniversary, Appreciation Dinner, etc.) because I was sick...losing all that money made me sicker icon_lol.gif

This week I only have three to do.

I am a slow decorator...take to many breaks, so this is working out fine for me.

I don't think that I could handle alot of orders every week like alot of decorators.

I have a 3 and 5 year old.... and two a week is my limit. With lots of planning I can handle that. Three just kill me.

In October and November I was really busy...I had a couple of weeks that I had 8 or 9 orders. For December I slowed down to about 2-3 a week. Sometimes it is good for me not to have too many. I actually turned a few down this past weekend because I had a wedding and groom's cake. I like to put all my efforts into the wedding cakes.

I usually do about 2-3 cakes per week. I also depends on my schedule, I have really strange work hours and days. This week is an exception, being a holiday week. 7 cakes, 3 cheesecakes, 12 cupcakes, 8 dozen truffles, and a wedding cake consultation! WHEW! I'm staying up all night tonight to get the baking done.

Do you have frozen cakes? How do you manage the time to do 5-9 cakes a week?

Alot of times I freeze my cakes when I know in advance what I need.
