I made cake balls with liquor as the binding agent for the cookie/candy exchange I went to this weekend. They were the most talked about and the most eaten!! The host even called me afterwards and told me they were so great.

Everyone was asking "Aren't they hard to make? Did they take a long time?" I was like no, not at all!! I told them it would even be easier if you bought day old cake at the bakery b/c then you could use more flavor!

Definitely a "make again" item!!

I gave them in my goodie bags at work and everyone had a fit over them....One person said they were the best dessert he has had all YEAR!!
I made them with Amaretto and then I made some with a coffee liquor and chocolate buttercream....They all taste good to me.

Glad to hear they worked for you. I have never tried using amaretto. I have made them 3 times and have had 2 "their ok" batches and one "what is it?" batch. I know you used some really nice liquers. Maybe that's the big difference? For now, I'll just stick to rum balls.

I also made the drunk cherries and everyone had a fit over those too.....Soaked them for 3 days and then just dipped in melted chocolate chips...Wow, they packed a punch.

I used all kinds of liquors. I went to the store and picked up like 5-6 different mini-bottles to try. I loved them all and they all got a great review!!

Drunk cherries might have to be my new years treat for work but I dunno if the office manager will get upset over them or not. I think I'll add that to my ideas for next year's exchange!!

Forgot about the mini bottles. I can't take the kids into the liquor store. Maybe I'll ask dh to put some mini-bottles in my Christmas stocking? icon_smile.gif
