Hi Everyone...well, my husband finished the dragon cake last night. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with it and so so so so proud of him!
The only credit I get is for baking and icing the layers. He did everything else, including airburshing and sculpting the actual dragon. The dragon is fondant, gumpaste wings, marshmallow boulders! He also painted the backdrop of the sunrise. Ironically, this morning when I dropped the cake off at 7:15 am, the actual real sunrise was identical to the one in the painting (orange sky, black clouds). It was beautiful, and I take it as a sign that we are on the right path.
Anyway, just wanted to share! icon_smile.gif HEre are the pics:

Thank-you; he'll be thrilled that you like the cake. The rocks are just large marshmallows that he cut with a knife, and then he painted them, and added airbrushed effects.

It's really easier than you'd think! Actually, the hard part was the sculpture, painting, and getting everything to hold up!

As everyone else has said, you guys are great together in this cake decorating thing!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif At least all of us at CC will be able to say..."We knew you when...." once you guys hit it big!! icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif Ya'll should seriously consider making this a joint endeavor & pushing the "cake limits" together...there's no telling how far you guys could go with it!! Like good wine & cheese, you both compliment each other very well....your combined efforts always turn out beyond SUPREME!! icon_wink.gif I remember you mentioning something about opening a small shop (over in the business forum)...how's that going? Is DH along for the ride on that too?? icon_smile.gif

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I can't wait for Devin to read it......it's going to really fuel him to continue on. He's been wanting to transition careers, so I am hoping that we start getting some business and leads from this.
Jenn, we are opening a store front this January. I am going to take my Christmas break and use it to do display cakes, etc. Hubby's on board with it all.....it may soon be his new career if we pick up business. We'll see!!

slightly jealous over here...

If I asked my hubby to help me with a cake he'd grab a fork and say "where can I start?"
