I have a customer who wants a cake for her Irish mother who is turning 70 and she would like these 2 themes incorporated into a cake. It is supposed to be a large sheet cake to feed 50-60 people.

I am pretty ignorant on Irish culture (all I can think of are shamrocks or the flag) so I need all the help I can get.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Brandi

Perhaps a Celtic symbol ... if you google images..."celtic symbol" you will get a bunch! Some of them are quite elaborate ...

One other thing ... if you plan to use green or orange... find out if she's Catholic or Protestant (green=catholic, orange=protestant.... not a good idea to mix them up LOL!)

Oops forgot suggested colors etc.

kelly green background
gold claddagh (and hit w/ gold luster dust if have it)
white writing (suggest royal done on template to get the font) and then hit w/ pearl dust if you have it.

(fyi: design assembled in MS Publisher...no way I could draw the claddagh freehand!)

How about something like "If you're lucky enough to be 70 and IRISH, you're lucky enough!" (yes, I'm Irish icon_lol.gif )

or, if she has a sense of humor, some other popular Irish things are BEER, the Blarney Stone, castles,... looking forward to seeing what you do. icon_smile.gif

here's a site of stained glass patterns w/ St. Patricks day theme, many of which could be adapted for a cake.

edited to add:

personal favorite in this set is the harp. could use as part of theme on the beautiful music of her life

It still didn't work. It says "Members Only" in the address bar. maybe that's the reason????

Thanks for all your help Doug.

when I click on it...a plain index page comes up listing the different files available (top one on list is Parent directory)

I just click on any one of the listed files and up comes the image.

Just wondering if you've completed this cake yet? I'm anxious to see what you did! icon_smile.gif

No I haven't completed it yet. The customer needs it on January 7th.

I have kind of put off thinking about it until after Christmas.

I will make sure that I post pics! icon_smile.gif
