Why not a candy section too?

I know that this is mainly a forum for cake decorating, but lately I have seen alot of cookies and candy idea and recipe requests too. Any thoughts on this by addinga forum and a gallery section?

Well off to making candy I go...only 16 lbs. of Chocolate to melt off and turn into candy by Friday. While making 2 desserts (havent decided what to doo for these) for Friday and a 2 tier cake for next Wednesday.

Well, since my name is candyladyhelen....I agree! I would love to see a forum for candy. I do handpainted chocolates and all sorts of varieties of assorted chocolates.

I would enjoy seeing those handpainted chocolates. I am finally done making all the chocolates for the holidays and have been enoying eating the leftovers.

I also do chocolates and would love a forum adressing that. I think there are a lot of us that combine both candy making and cake decorating. Sometimes using candy on cakes!

I would love to see a candy section on here! I love making cakes, but I'm trying to make a go of a chocolates business and make them all the time.

It's a nice idea to expand but ..... it's CAKE CENTRAL. Maybe a separate section?? Or a sister site for cookies and one for candies.
I had belonged to Recipes du Jour and Tips du Jour which where sister sites, they also have Desserts du jour. It's a neat way of keeping the sites special to one field without having everything in one pot.
All are fun to do but many joined here because it's cake decorating. Just my 2ยข worth!!!

Weeeelll, I see alot of candy on cakes, like seashell and stars that are chocolate from molds as well as lots of cookies. Seems to me that they are an element used very often in cake decorateing and would be benificial to us who are still learning. If I were someone who came here for cake decorateing and cake decorating only, I simply wouldent visit that section, no harm done, no time wasted. icon_biggrin.gif

shelain22 ~ I'm sorry, I meant no offense. I guess I may have phrased things wrong. All I was trying to say was it would be nice to keep the original "Cake Central" separate somehow either in this site or have sister sites for candies & cookies which are fun too.
Again, please accept my apologies for sounding ''anti candy & cookies". I'm not that!!!

I wasent even thinking of what you wrote when I posted, I was just trying to put it at a diferent angle for those who may be makeing the decision. Personally it dosent make any diference to me cause if I really want to know how to do it,or to see it I can find it on the net, and I can see how and why some wouldent want it on here. The only reason someone ever needs to apologize to me is if they say something intentionally to hurt my feelings, I am not one to get upset over someones opinion, you know, its your right and all that good stuff.

I have to say though, when I read your anti candy/cookie phrase I got the funniest visual of a woman standing on a hill witha bag of iceing in one hand, iceing smears on her face doing the heil hitler thing to a bunch of crumbled cookies and melted chocolates below, hehe.

I would agree to a candy section only if the candy had to do with decorating a cake and not just candy I love this site its for cakes and how to decorate them and I wouldn't want anything taken away from that. icon_biggrin.gif
