Does pound cake rise very much.. I found an old family recipe and I tried making it last night and the cake rose some and then settled back down. Now, I'm thinking there are two things that could have happened...1) I forgot to sift the flour 2) I might not have filled the pans enough. The recipe called for a tube pan, but I put the batter into two loaf pans. I only filled them half full.

Tami, did the recipe say to sift the flour before measuring.
In this case it definitely would make it that it didn't risethat much because there was too much flour.
I always sift my flour even if the recipe calls for it or not.
