I am doing a guitar cake for a 10 year-old this weekend, and she wants it blue and purple--I am using the Wilton cake pan. Please help. I don't want it to end up looking like a miniature Barney!

Here is my blue and burgundy electric guitar. I did the base in white buttercream and did the top parts in burgundy and blue fondant. The strings were done with a sugarcraft gun. The writing was cut out of rolled out Aussie soft licorice.
Hope this helps you to get some ideas.

Thank you for putting a picture with the color pallette. Do you suggest using fondant or rolled buttercream instead of regular buttercream?
Again, I thank you for the suggestion

I would suggest using whatever tastes good. I am in Australia and I am aware that the Wilton fondant tastes like was, as i've tried it and was horrified. Our fondants have quite a nice taste and are much easier to work with. If you are going to use fondant i would suggest using FondX which is another american product i've tried and it tastes really nice and it can be refrigerated. I have never used rolled buttercream or MMF. But I suppose they should be fine if they work in the same way as fondant.
Cheers
