Hi I was lookig for a recipe that someone posted for a homemade hot chocolate and I can't find it now. I know it included powder milk and nestles chocolate powder but that's all I remember. I think it was in a post where they were talking about gift baskets. Can you please forward it to me if you have it or can find that post.

Thanks
Jackie

I remember seeing it in one of the forums but can't remember which one it was. I do know it was very close to the hot cocoa recipie I have so I can give mine to you......I got it from a friend of mine. It makes a lot. I filled a ltall tin, and 7 icing bags and still have more!!

10 1/2 Cups Dry Milk
15 oz box quick nestle cocoa
3 Cups powdered sugar
6 oz coffee mate

I tried it and thought it needed a little more powdered sugar myself but you can give it a try.

1/3 Cup of mix to 1 cup hot water.

Thanks, Stogz

I think this is it, I'll try it. Did you make gifts? You said you put it in icing bags, would you mind sharing what else you put in the bag? This is the first year I am giving homemade stuff and I want it all to be really nice and good.

Thanks again
Jackie

I saw icing bags with hot cocoa selling at target for almost $8 a piece and thought, I can make those for a lot cheaper. I filled up 3 : 1/3 cups full and then added just a little more so people could get at least 3 cups of hot cocoa out of it. The little more in case they like it really chocolatey! Then I put mini marshmallows on top of that and then I put different kinds of choc. chips. Some of the mixed chips (choc. and carmel) mini chips and white chips. Tied it with a bow and made a little card that said how to make it. I plan on dipping big marshmallows and graham cracker sticks in choc. and putting those in another bag and giving them with it too.

Thanks Stogz,

That sounds like a great idea I'm still debating on what to put in the baskets but I think this willl be one thing I am adding for sure.

Here's one that I like:

2 cups of instant nonfat dry milk
2 cups of minature marshmallows
1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
1 cup non-dairy creamer
3/4 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chip morsels
1/2 cup cocoa

Stir all ingredients together in a bowl. Use 1/3 cup of the mix to 1 cup of boiling water.

You can also put this into plastic wrap, tie it up with a nice holiday ribbon and place down into mugs for gifts. I've even dipped spoons in chocotate, wrapped those up and put into the mugs with the chocolate mix. It makes nice, fast made gifts icon_smile.gif

My mom and little sister usually make some every Christmas. Theirs is similar to the recipes posted but they also crush up peppermint/candy canes and add to the mix. SO GOOD!
