YES I POLISH MY KIRBY VACUUM icon_redface.gificon_lol.gif I paid enough for it, icon_eek.gif so I want it to look nice icon_confused.gif ...go ahead laugh, icon_cool.gif I do, I shake my cake central addicted head everytime I do....I have two beagles, three sons and a husband, and I am constantly telling them cleanliness is important, so I think this counts too. Besides when most people come over I am cleaning somehow, usually vacuuming, and I have heard more then once "thats a great vacuum" So yes its my baby too. icon_cry.gificon_lol.gif but I will admit I have this site up and on the screen as I clean, and I hit refresh to keep it current. If a new post comes in then names change and I look to see what they have to say.... I dont know if you have noticed, but I do most mornings, try to post something on all new topics that you see on the home page, or I will hit forum and see if I feel I have something to add to the last post. If flayvurdfun isnt the last post I read to see whats going on! icon_lol.gificon_razz.gifthumbs_up.gifjudge.gif

Everything in my kitchen is black ~ dishwasher, microwave, stove ~ it always looks like I never dust or clean and I wipe everything down what seems like way to often!

Oh and I so had my heart set on a kithen that would look like one at a restaurant icon_sad.gif . Sounds like stainless is as bad as black so I'll stay away from that too! I guess white is the way to go...I have a side by side too. It stinks for storing cakes! I'm keeping my eye out at yard sales for a big, fat fridge to put in my garage thumbs_up.gif .

What I would looovee to have is one of those french door fridges, where the top part of the fridge is all fridge and the bottom part is a freezer, but the top opens up like a side by side...like this....

Lisa I am in the same boat as you. The side by side holds nothing! I can't freeze cakes because after I go to the grocery store there is no more room. Hubby says he is going to buy me one. Then I'm be a freezing fool icon_cool.gif .

By the way white is just as bad, it shows everything and it's not a smooth surface so it gets down in it argggggh! I hate it.

Ohhhh...that's a nice fridge! I'd have to sell a lot of cakes to 'fford that one.

I had an off-white kitchen before I went black. I thought it was hard to keep clean at the time and it probably was but in comparison to black...it was much easier. If I weren't making and decorating cakes though, I think the black would be easier than the white. It's just all the flour and powdered sugar that finds it's way onto everything.

By the way - I'm new here, but I recognize some names from the Wilton forums....but I think I like this one better....easier to find the new posts and they posts don't take 12-72 hours to show up!

I just wanted to say that the best investment I ever made in my kitchen was replacing the laminate countertops and stainless steel sink with all Corian! The best think about Corian is NOTHING stains it....not even icing coloring that sits on the counter for 2 hours! A little Comet (powder) and it comes right up!

Oh - I have an all white kitchen too....and I LIKE that it looks dirty faster. It gives me reason to keep it clean.

One other thing. For those who feel overwhelmed with housework, the BEST thing I ever did was take "flying lessons" and become a "Flybaby". I am talking about Flylady.net Her website will help you to design an easy-to-follow schedule of housework that helps you to stop living in a state of CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). It took me only about 2 months until I was completely organized and now I spend about an hour a day cleaning and my house is always clean and uncluttered. Best of all - all of her advice and suggestions are completely FREE.

FWIW

MindiBrad ~ I've seen the Corian, really nice stuff out there. Have you seen the refrigerators that look like your cupboards? I'm not sure I like that look so much.

My mother-in-law has a sub-zero refrigerator that looks like her cabinets and I have to say....I don't care that it cost a small fortune....I like a refrigerator that LOOKS like a refrigerator <grin>

It really changed my life. I was always trying to get everything done at once....but now, I have a definate schedule and by keeping to that houework schedule, my home is at all times clean and tidy (well - the family room where my 2 & 4 year-old's toys isn't always tidy during the day, but they help pick up and by the time they go to bed, everything is put away)

Make sure that you DO make a Control Journal and write your routines down. Also - those "27 Fling Boogies" will do WONDERS for decluttering your home!

I have heard of flylady, but I also have suggested her to my friends and others...I have my schedule down and I do stay on task, I do find that its the laundry that will mess me up though, but right now have 6 washers and dryers to do my laundry so that takes only 2 hours (if that) to wash and dry them I fold them and then they sit on my bed or near my closet door until I'm ready to put them away. My hubby will put them away for me too, so I have extra time on cakecentral...yes he said that.....he said he likes that I have found people to chat with even if I dont know who they are or what they look like. I am a home body and though I have a few people I call friends I dont do anything else but stay home. I like it this way right now because being here on a small base is horrible with all the whispering and finger pointing and bad mouthing going on. Instead of being known as a "cheater" or "ho" or "B!" I'm known as the one that is always there for the children...my house is always full of other kids. If I have only my kids I am surprised!
