Hello everyone...just wanted to send a quick post to update everyone on my good luck as of late. I don't know what I did, but things are just lining up so nicely and really going my way!!
First of all, I get to take a wedding cake class with Wendy Kromer!!
She is from Ohio, and she is going to be a visting chef at a local cooking school. I've taken decorating classes there before, but this is the first time with a celebrity chef! I'm so excited about that!
Secondly, I found a storefront to rent!! It is about 2 minutes from my house, and is located on one of the busiest streets in my town. It has huge display windows, and a very nicee area to use as a showroom. The rent is unbelievably low, and I think this is going to be a way to gain some visibility! I adore the shop: it was built in 1930 and has sort of an antique, tudor style to it, and even has tin ceilings!! It was a scary plunge, but I am not locked into a lease as they are going on a month to month basis. The best part is that there is a huge room in the back that I could turn into a kitchen if/when I am ready to do so!
Anyway, it just feels like christmas is coming early this year, and I wanted to share!
YOu all have been so supportive and have offered quite a bit of encouragement!

Don't know who Wendy is, but I do know how you excited you must be to find an affordable space to rent. A month-to-month lease is awesome! Would be great if it had a kitchen. You could always bring in frosted cakes and decorate them in the storefront window.

That is all such wonderful news, good for you kiddo! The shop sounds perfect and the course, well, lucky you! I predict we will be saying we knew you back when you were just starting out! Hhmn, we should get the autographs now, while you have some time, right! I just know you will be hugely successful!

Oh MY GOD!! If all of these things weren't already happening, YOU WOULD NEVER BELIEVE THE NEXT THING THAT JUST HAPPENED!!!
I got a phone call today from a lady interested in a wedding cake for next year. We talked a little bit on the phone and she told me what she was interested in. She ended up making an appointment for a tasting this thursday after school. Well, we ended up chatting, and here she tells me that she is a weekend anchor woman for the local news station and reports for them during the week!!!!!
So naturally, I am going all out on her tasting and sample cakes. If she likes them, who knows where this could lead??
I think that all of this good fortune came just in time for Saint Nicholas's celebration. (it was his holiday this week). I am sure that is why it's all happening at once. (I was raised a good Russian Orthodox girl). I'm just very thankful for the opportunities coming my way!
I just wish everyone else the same good fortune or luck or circumstances...whatever you want to call it!
Squirrelly...not so sure about that, but I definitely would love just to get busy enough to do this full time!
