Some background info...my dad LOVES Corvette's. In fact he has 2 of them. One is an 85 silver Vette with 2 red racing stripes on the side. His birthday is this Saturday, and I wanted to do something special for him, so I decided to try to carve him a car.

Well, it doesn't look real Corevette-ish, but maybe a bit cartoonish Corvette. My son recognizes it as "Papa's car".

Like someone mentioned in another post, the pictures show all the errors...UGH. And we had an incident, too. Buzz Lightyear crash landed on the top of the car and on the back end. I had to fix that!

All in all, I don't thin it's TOO bad for a first time carving...

Awww, thanks everyone! Actually my dad has not seen it yet - it's a surprise! He'll see it soon though.

It was a marble cake (his request). I found a website that had some basic instructions for cakes like this. Basically take the 9X13 and cut one long side off, cut that in half and use it for the top of the car...I took some scraps to fill in areas. That was fun! I made the windows, taillights, and Corvette flags out of MMF. The icing is BC - grey. Afterwards I used a bit of silver luster dust to make it a bit shiny to look more silver. Tires are Oreos. icon_lol.gif

I have been looking forward to making this cake for well over 6 months!

Thanks again!!!

I love it! Good job!!

I noticed that your son said "Papa's car" and I assume this is what he calls his grandfather? Just stuck out because my 2 year old has named my parents "Mama and Papa" and I just thought it was cool to see another child that does that! I think sometimes people get confused when she calls them that, and think they're her parents lol..although they look it considering my mom is 39 and my dad is 43.

Anyway, sorry so off-topic..LOL..you did a fabulous job!!!!!!!!

Thanks...

Yeah, my son calls my dad "Papa" and my mom "Ma". When my daughter was his age she called them "Papa and Mawa" Of course now its Papa and Grandma, or when she's being funny, Grannie. LOL!!!

I had a grandpa that I called Grandpap.

And you're parents ARE young! My dad is turning 58 tomorrow. My FIL is almost 73. Of course, my mom is only 35...for the past 22 years. icon_lol.gif
