I hate working with royal icing i always have trouble with the consistancy is there something else that i can use to make roses, etc with that will harden. I'm thinking that in a decorating class i took they told me that i could use wilton's "snow white buttercream" recipe. Please help i've been asked to do two 50th wedding anniversary cakes.

Yes, you can use Wilton's buttercream recipe to make roses. You will want a stiff consistency.

OMG i hate royal too...for roses I would make fondant, but if u want something simpler, use crusting buttercream and then put them in the fridge..in a week, they are like really really hard
