Hello everyone, I just received a KitchenAid Classic for Christmas this past weekend, and I was wondering if 250 watts would be strong enough to mix royal icing and color flow in it? I have already burned up three hand mixers with higher wattage trying to make royal icing but I thought that maybe the KitchenAid would be built much better and could handle the stiffness of both those frostings. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated as I do not really want to go out and pay the money for the professional series but I do use royal icing quite frequently. Thanks again.

You shouldnt have any issue with the Kitchen Aid. I always use mine for royal icing and stiff frostings.

I have two Kitchenaids, a Classic and an Artisan. I adore them both. You can mix anything in them that you want, from cookie and bread dough to stiff icings. I've been using mine for four years, and the bakery I work at uses two Classics when the Hobart is too big for the current purposes.

Enjoy that mixer!

CONGRATS! I think you should be okay as long as you don't try making double batches of royal. I have the 250 watt and other than it being alittle noisy, it works well.

I recieved a "Pro" model last year for Xmas, and LOVE it. It does everything and more than I need. I was looking all over for a cheapy stand up that I could afford, while getting the word out to anyone, by strong hints, that I'd love to one day own a Kitchen Aid Mixer. The $300+ they spent has obviously hepled me to get better and better with each thing I make. Heck sometimes I make cookies and cakes that i don't even need, JUST to be able to use the mixer!

Don't skimp when it comes to mixers, there is NO comparison.
