We celebrated both niece's birthdays at Thanksgiving. One is eight and the other is seventeen. I decided to make a purse for each one of them. Tooling along sort of on time in my own mind but actually fighting with the fondant while I'm trying to figure out how to paint the Louis Vuitton design on the purse. My husband comes back from walking the dog close to midnight when he sees that the dog is bleeding from his rectum. He starts yelling that something is wrong, what are we gonna do, blah, blah, blah. We jump into the car with the dog and go to the nearest animal emergency center. Poor Pepper had an impacted anal grand that ruptured. (He's had a rough year so far-torn acl, lyme disease now this). They take care of him and I don't get back home until almost 2 am Thanksgiving morning. No time to finish the cakes then so I wake up at 6 am to check on the dog and finish the cakes. Here are the finished products as best I could do for a first try with no skill at sculpting. Thanks to all who have posted purse cakes and links to purse cakes.

They look great! Our teenage babysitter collects purses, I'm going to have to try something like this for her. She'd love it, as I'm sure your niece's did. You did a great job!
They are perfectly wonderful, really really nicely done! Ooh poor woofer, hope he is feeling better, ouch!

You did a great job on both purses. I Love the look of cake purses, but have not tried one yet.

WOW!!!!
You did an excellent job...I love them.
I did one for my DD birthday....they are a lot harder to make than they look.....I need a lot more practice on mine.
Hope your dog is doing OK.

Fabulous! I have my granddaughter coming over from England for Christmas. She's 11 and such a fashion queen. I'd love to be able to make a purse for her, but I'm not very artistic so wouldn't know where to start. Help!!!
