I have a friend who loves Nutty Bars. His birthday is coming up and I would like to make a cake that incorporates nutty bars. I was thinking a chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream filling but also want to add in a crunch layer. I have no idea what that crunchy layer would be. I was thinking to cover it in chocolate buttercream or ganache and crushed nutty bars.

I have a feeling that a crunchy layer would get soggy as I figured out on a past cake with piourette cookies on it. I would have to make it the night before.

Any suggestions.

Just that Little Debbie Nutty Bars were part of a recall earlier this month. I'm sure everything on the store shelves is fine, but if you have some already at home, check it out.

Your cake sounds yummy. There is a bag of crunchy stuff located with the candy melts. I don't know if this would get soggy or not. I have seen the bags before. I usually get my candy melts at ACMoore or Michaels.

I saw an amazing cake here on CC just the other day...it was a chocolate cake, but was "edged" with KitKats and then filled on top with miniature Reese Cups! Then I think she had tied a ribbon around the entire cake! You could do something like that but edge it with Nutty Bars instead, if it didn't look too clumpy?

ATennille, did you ever come up with a recipe? I'm curious as to how it came out.
