OK...everyone will probably think I'm nuts, but there is a local bakery that makes a WONDERFUL caramel cake. A family friend works in the flower shop there and has said the Caramel icing is not 'cooked'. icon_eek.gif It's just mix and apply. I've googled myself silly icon_lol.gif - does anyone know of a no cook recipe for Caramel frosting?

Thanks!

I searched Food Network, Allrecipes.com and Yahoo to no avail. thumbsdown.gif I can't for the life of me figure it out either. Maybe someone else knows how to do it. Good luck! icon_smile.gif

I'm wondering if they aren't using the bulk caramel donut icing. And maybe they are tweaking it or something, who knows. But if it tastes good, kewl.

I m sorry I don't have the recipe you are looking but I have one that I grew up with, it's from another country. If you have a pressure cooker (which I use just about 3 times a day), you'll need one can of condensed sweetened milk, put the can (closed) inside the pressure cooked and fill with water until the can is covered, close the pressure cooker and let it cook for half an hour once you take it out you open the can and voila caramel and the most delicious one I 've ever tasted.

I just buy the caramel that is in the produce section in a tub and mix it with BC icing...add to taste!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've been traveling on business and this is the first opportunity I've had to check the forum. I have 4 orders for Chocolate Caramel cakes this week and will try the 'caramel' with buttercream - I don't have a pressure cooker but sounds like a good reason to buy one! I'm assuming the caramel from the produce department is the apple dipping caramel, right? The ice cream caramel with BC is too runny as I have tried that one.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!
