Can Cookies With Royal Icing Accents Go In The Freezer???

I freeze cookies frosted with royal icing all the time. I usually freeze them on a cookie sheet first. AFter they are frozen, I put them in an airtight container separating the layers with waxed paper or plastic wrap. If you want, you can also wrap the container in plastic wrap for extra protection. You can keep them for 3-6 months like this.

Do you unwarp them to thaw in single layers? or do they thaw just fine stacked?

I've done it both ways and they have been fine. So either way is good.
