My SIL is trying to make a 3-D bear cake for a birthday party with a new pan. The head keeps sticking and falling apart. She is greasing and flouring all the corners and is allowing it to cool 10 min before removing one side. Any suggestions to help?

I am sorry I have never had that happen, is she using the heating core?

that woule have been my question, is she using the heating core? I have never had that problem, are you (or she) sure the cake is done all the way through.

I think I usually let mine cool 15-20 minutes and then take one side off, leaving the other side on and lying down on that side. Cool for 30 minutes and then do the same on the side that was just cooling. I keep doing that every 30 minutes until it is perfectly cool.

I have never had this happen either but i would think first heating core then is it cooked all the way through then letting it cool longer. i hope she gets it. this must be frustrating.

One other thing...I usually leave my heating core in while it is cooling because I noticed that if I took it out it before it was completley cool it would cause some problems.

I do the same thing as Caketime and I also only use a dense cake in this pan, either a doctored up cake mix with sour cream and an instant pudding added and reduced oil or something stronger. I wouldn't make a cake in this pan using the mix as the box directs.

I agree with SC..doctor a cake mix when using this. My first question would have been the heating core as well. I know I've forgotten to do this before, and it ended really badly, my mom's dog was happy though, he got it for dessert.
