Hi Everyone.....I needed some help on prices!! How much do people charge per dozen on cupcakes? I got an inquiry from the craft show for cupcakes with a piped christmas wreath on them. I know that is a lot of work, but what do I charge? What do YOU all charge, is a better question?

ANy advice is so much appreciated!

Well, Mrs. Beasley's gourmet cupcakes are $3 each or $30 a dozen. I find most people charge about $15 a dozen on this site, but I would think for decorated cupcakes $2 each would be a good range if this is worth your while.

Ellen,
I live in Ohio also and I find it hard to charge alot for cupcakes. I'm not sure if thats the same where you are. I usually charge about $18/dozen for decorated cupcakes. Hope this helps you.

ge978...what part of ohio are you in?

I decided on 1.25/cupcake, 2 dozen minimum for piped cupcakes with wreaths. I hope I get the order! I think they would be just gorgeous!!

that sounds low..the same amount of batter in a cake and we would charge a lot more..cupcakes take a lot longer to individually frost than to just frost one cake...i think $20-30 a dozen depending on detail sounds right

I think the main issue here is is what your market will bear. Where I live I could never charge 20-30 per dozen. No one would order them. You have to know your market and price accordingly.

What about cupcakes that are just iced with no decoration? What would you charge for these?

I sold at a craft fair this weekend and made decorated cupcakes, in the begining I was charging $1.25/cupcake and within 20 minutes almost half my supply was gone. The crafter next to me who had bought one earlier said you are selling those too low. So I uped the price to $2.00 and no one ever said Oh that is too much! They just happily paid. So I think you should make sure at whatever market range your in make sure you do not underprice yourself. You put alot of time and ingredients into the cupcakes and your hardwork should payoff.

..yeah, I think an average price of $1.50 is fair. Some will be more based on the decorations and some will be less!
