I was just asked to do a cake for my husband's squadron's christmas party next Friday. There are 80 people in his squadron, plus their families, but they couldn't give me an exact estimate of how many people would be attending. I may make 2 different cakes, as I don't really feel like cutting it, and if I do tiers I'd have to cut it all night.

So, any ideas how I can incorporate the Air Force with Christmas? I would really like to do sheet cakes. They asked for no fondant since its such an aquired taste. (Not many people on this base like fondant) So, what can I do?!

by the way, this is probono so that's why I don't wanna stand around cutting it. I'd like to enjoy myself and just have everyone cut their own slice. Its a VERY casual party, I mean, they're doing kegs and everything and its at the bowling alley (the Sergeant planning this is from TX, so he knows how to throw a good ol' party LOL) so it doesn't HAVE to be extravagent or anything..but I am hoping to get cake orders out of it. Any help is soooooo appreciated, since this will be the first time a TON of people are going to see my work!

THANKS!

i think you could do an air craft flying and droping gifts or you could do a tree with little air force wings hanging on the tree??? just an ideal.

you said it's for a christmas party for the squad...what if you made a picture of santa in an Air Force suit. You could make it look like he switched his sleigh in for one of their planes. Then you would get the christmas and the air force with a little humor. Plus you said it was a family event and this would be a very kid friendly cake. Good Luck!! icon_smile.gif

Would it be "sacrilegous" to just do the air force logo in red and green? That would be really easy.

Or you could do jet with christmas lights along the top and bottom with wreaths along the sides and one on the front. I also like the idea of dropping toys, but to simplify it you could just make a big Santa's bag hanging from the bottom of the airplane.

What about a landing strip lined with Christmas lights and Santa's sleigh coming in...
