I'm doing a cake for this saturday for a cub scout auction and I want to do something nice that stands out and will get a lot of bids but I dont want to spend a lot of money or time on it it has to be something my 7 year old can help with and shouldnt be anything to fancy so something playful and im having trouble decieded on what to make here are some of my idea's
i'm thinking of makeing the black pearl from pirates of the caribean I know it will attract alot of attention but also will be very time consuming for me. also i thought of doing spongebobs house I saw one in the gallery and it looked great. also maybe an alligator most of these people are kinda country for lack of a better word and I dont know if im suppose to make a cake that will appeal to the kids or a cake that will appeal to the adults I think most of them might like a fish or a shot deer or something but I want to make something cute and fun. what are you suggestions ?idea's? thanks in advance.

Why not do a stand up Bear cake and decorate in the boy scout theme? Sometimes people call them 3 d bear pans.

My son is a Wolf and he adores Spongebob....the other ideas are cute too, but I think this would go over very well.

I've done a cake for our cub scout auction 2 years in a row. Here's what I've learned:
1. Appeal to the kids--They are the ones bidding on the cakes (with their parents permission).
2. Flavor matters! The chocolate flavored cakes seam to go for more money. Even the choc flavored cakes that aren't very well decorated will go for more than a nice looking cake that's not choc.

thankyou all so much for your suggestions right now im leaning towards the spongebob house because I know how much kids and adults like spongebob maybe chocolate with cookies and cream filling and bc frosting? with little sponge bob sitting outside the door if i can mold him ive never really molded much. also if i can i think i will do a second cake a globe with just stars that my son can do by himslef.

The 3-D stand up Bear in a cub scout suit - with cake, clothes and all made out of all chocolate. What kiddo could resist bidding on that!

Someone posted their father-son cake bake example on here and it was adorable. If I recall correctly, it was a circle cake with a stream on one side, a pine tree, and a tent with a bear inside of it. Totally adorable.

In the past for our cake auctions, we've made a toilet bowl complete with tootsi rolls (kids like them for the gross factor), a five foot snake (total pain to transport), and one of Henry V (don't ask). The toilet bowl went for just under $200.
