Ok guys....I need some fast help!! Tomorrow is my oldest son's b-day. I just finished making my buttercream in between chasing my 10 month old. Got it finished and tasted it. icon_eek.gif Okay something is not right here!! Tasted it again icon_eek.gif YUCK!! I got to looking at my extracts....and I put lemon extract instead of almond!!!! icon_cry.gificon_mad.gificon_sad.gif It is nasty!!! Looks like I would have smelled the difference...but I guess with chasing the baby, I just didn't pay any attention!! icon_redface.gif Is there anything I can do to fix it icon_confused.gif ...my hopes aren't up too high, because I know that there probably is nothing that can be done. icon_cry.gif I guess I will throw it out and start all over. icon_mad.gificon_cry.gif

Oops - sorry! I would have to throw it away, because I don't have the patience to try and fix it. I don't know what you would do to change the lemon flavor.

Oooohhh, I feel your pain-have a 13 month old!! I'm not sure what would counter the lemon-that's pretty strong stuff-oh, I'm just not sure!! There is alot of talent here-someone may be able to come to the rescue!

Happy Birthday to your son! party.gifking.gifbirthday.gif

Perhaps add some orange extract ... more citrus-y?

Another option would be to add some raspberries or raspberry jam (lemon and rasberries go great together) Even if it's wrong for this cake, you could freeze it and use it as filling for another cake later...?

I love my freezer for holding frosting....so save it for another day...

and to cut the flavor...make another batch but put no flavoring in it at all, then blend the two together for half the taste or add smaller amount to the unflavored to get the right lemon note.

personally, I always add a touch of clear vanilla and butter flavoring to any frosting I make, it just makes it more yummy -- seems to take the edge off some of the other flavorings so not so bitter/artifical.
