i was up til' midnight last night working on two bcts. i finally started to finish, when i squeeze the bag toooo hard and smeared up MY BCT!!
NO, i didn't stay up to redo!!! back to the drawing board the next day!!
hey I was up until then also...but with egg cakes not transfers....my ego is still hurt from my last poor attempt to do transfers...and on top of that MMF! 2 strikes.... man!
All we can do is practice, practice, practice.
That's probably one reason why I haven't tried anything like the CT and BCT- I don't have time to practice. I can't wait until after April 30th, then my friend is married and I don't have to worry about her wedding anymore.
What is it with last second disasters? I'm still leery of the time I was trying to do leaves with a baggie, I was minutes away from finishing a shower cake and of course...the bag burst! Green everywhere! Swear words everywhere! My step-kids came flying into the kitchen, 'What's wrong?!?' only to be tersely told they had better turn around and go back out as they shouldn't see or hear what I was gonna do next!
We lick our wounds, (and any yummy icing!) and like you said, go back to the drawing board. We must all have to be a little on the crazy side to do this to ourselves! That and truly have a love of decorating!
Oh No, I don't want to hear that bags can break doing BCT, I've already had that disaster with my CT
I know when that happened with the CT I wanted to scream but I had to contain myself, with a 3 year old who mimics EVERYTHING....well, you get the picture
Oh yeah baby, the bags break when you least expect it! Or it comes flying out the other end of it! At least with a BCT or CT you can try to salvage it but if it's directly on the cake, well, that's a whole new ball sugar!
talk about three year olds...my neighbor has a four year old that repeats everything right after you say it. so...i am so use to saying , when my chiuahua runs off, "i'm gonna kick you in the butt"! then, dariun, the little boy tells his momma when he goes home, i'm gonna kick you in the butt.
Parchment bags are life savers. If you dont use the plastic ones, I use Parchment for every BCT. I have so many colors to work with that it is just easier and NEVER BROKE!!!! Good luck next time..

i have tried and tried to make my own parchment ones, to no avail. is it worth buying them?
I LOVE the parchment bags-especially when I need just a little bit of icing for something-hate washing the bags for 2 tablespoons of icing or something! they are great!!! I do love my "real" bags too, but use them for larger amounts of icing.
Wow NANNI! You just made me change my mind. I am finally on my last few parchment triangles....I have thought about buying real bags, and I think I still will, but I think I will also want the triangles for what you said, for the smaller amounts of icing. I already struggle with having to take tips out of one color and wash them to use the same tip on something else! So I am going to make sure I have like 4 of each popular tip so this wont happen as much, and I will do the same thing with bags, but thanks to you I will also buy my triangles!
yes, I have several tips that I have multiples of-for just the reason of taking them off and washing them-etc. With the parchment ones I don't have to use couplers either then when done all I have to do is cut the tip out and wash them-soooooooooooo easy!! And really great if doing writing or small things-no tip at all!! Used to live near Rhein Maine-lived in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and then in Bitburg, as a child dependent then as an active duty myself=sure do miss it! Enjoy some pommefrits and brotchen for me!
flavrdfun...now I don't feel alone in wondering what the CT was for, kept thinking...I know what that is darn it! Okay now, I have the worst problem working with the parchment bags, can't get the set up right or something. Doesn't matter what size, the little ones or regular sized. Any advice??? I do use the plastic bags for BC, and the disposable ones for Royal that way I know there is no grease on anything there. But, with the plastic ones I do put the icing in plastic wrap then inside the bag. Great for clean up! And it really isn't all that much to do.
I know what you mean about setting up the triangles its like you have to be double jointed to get them right. But I always bring in left side first and then wrap the right around that and look at the point at the end if it needs to be pointyer(I know that isnt a real word) then I pull the outer piece tighter then I find myself folding down the top edge of where the creases are a couple of times to hold it still. ( I also see MaryEllen on Typical Mary Ellen tip show do the same thing.) I get fustrated with the triangles but I find the fustration is nothing compared to the ease, but I really just wanted to stop using the bags because of the set up of the triangles. Now I think I will continue with them and also buy either disposable bags or the lightweight bags.
