Ok, guys, I found this cake stand at TJ Maxx and fell in love with! Being that i am obsessed with cake decorating, I immedialty thought it would make a cute cake design! So, I made the cherries and flowers, everything out of MMF, who would know you could do so much with a marshmallow! Anyways, this cake stand is my most treasured possesion, after my kids and husband, of course!!
all i have to say is WOW....i love it when things spark your imagination like that....you never know where inspiration will come from.
That is gorgeous!!!!! I love cake stands too. I have one from Southern Living that I just love! Your cake rocks!
Absolutely beautiful! You should send a pic to Southern Living or some other magazine!
Double wow! I love the stand and you did such a great job duplicating it on the cake.
I second what everyone else has said! Beautiful cake and stand! I am so suprised no one else has ask this question... How in the HECK did you get the MMF sooo black??
Thanks so much everybody!!!! Is Southern Living a magazine? I was worried about getting the MMF truly black, the way I did it was to start out with brown MMF, then work in the black. To expirment, I actually painted the bottom tier black, much faster that way!

I was wondering the same thing. The MMF is pitch black! Great job!
Meghan...gorgeous plate (and cake)....I've sort of accumulated a footed cake plate collection. I can see this getting out of control~~~~~ LOL!
This is great. The layer you painted, when it was eaten did the color stay on the mouth? I have gotten fondant really black before. It takes alot of color though. I like the look of the one painted. If it will not color the mouth as well, maybe that would be a quicker route.
Phoov, I hear ya on collecting cake plates, very dangeous!!! When I was at TJ Maxx, I had three in my cart, I had to put one back! As far as the black coloring staining peoples mouths, it wasnt an issue this time because the bottom tier was a cake dummy, but I'm not sure how that would work if the botton tier had actually been eaten! I put a very thin layer a black, so hopefully it would work!
Perfect! The cake matches the stand and both are just perfect, fabulous, unique, love it!
Well, you are going to get some staining from black anyway, but worse when it is strictly painted on top of icing without being mixed with say alcohol or extract. But even when it is kneaded into fondant you will get some tooth and lip discolouration, worse for some people.
I love footed stands but unfortunately they take up so much room, don't they. Well you could always just move the family out to a storage shed, haha!

WHOA!!! That is a beautiful cake........matches the cake stand.....Very creatived!!!!!

Awesome job! That is beautiful!
My mom gave me an antique plate with cherries on it and it inspired me to redecorate my kitchen/wallpaper etc. Now, you've inspired me to use the plate to design a cake!
Southern Living is a magazine. They also publish cookbooks. Very popular here in the South.
I love them both. You did a GREAT job on the cake! It's beautiful! I got my latest copy of Real Simple magazine the other day and the cover has a picture of some stacked boxes and the first thing I thought was "wow, that would make a beautiful cake". Funny how different things catch your eye!
