I have been asked to make 6 dozen cookie shaped like the support your troops ribbon for our base cookie drive for the stationed here airmen for Christmas. They will be approximately 4 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide. They will be just based iced yellow with royal icing with no decorations. I know some people suggest charging $1 per inch of cookie so I "should" charge $2.75 per cookie I guess. I called the only local bakery here in town that does specialty cookies and they charge $1.50 for cookies about the size of the palm of your hand. Anyhow, if I am not decorating them, should the same rule apply for what to charge? I love decorating but HATE the money part, I am so bad at that. Being a military wife, I also feel like I want to donate my time and only charge for the materials. Call me a softy but these troops deserve some fresh home made cookies.

THANKS!! usaribbon.gif

smileyface, sorry, I can't help you with the pricing because, I'm exactly like you, love decorating but hate pricing. I usually charge too little for my cakes and, in this case, I agree with you about only charging for materials...
As you see, I'm not a big help, just wanted to let you know that I understand your dilema... icon_rolleyes.gif
Good luck!

Thanks, lpino is nice to know I am not the only one, LOL!! We are only asked to donate 1 dozen cookies but my friend wants me to make 6 dozen. She like me feels these guys and gals need special treatment during the holidays when most are so far from friends, family and home. She is offering to pay me whatever I feel is the right price. I never feel good about the pricing part but now I just feel really weird since they are for the troops and a friend is asking me to make them. Two tugs on my heart, I am such a push over LOL!!

Oh yeah, WELCOME to Cakecentral!! You will love it here. icon_biggrin.gif
