Let's have a CC convention!! - Page 3

I say that we just keep an open dialogue. Jackie and Heath...I think you will have plenty of willing helpers if you decide to do a cake central convention. I would definitely go, first to meet all of the people I've been in contact with. Secondly, I would love to learn from people who've been doing cakes for so long. Just keep us posted...it's now in the back of my head. My husband tells me I'm like a choo choo train...once I get on a certain track, I don't get off until I"m done going full steam ahead; so if you want me on board, all you have to do is hollar! icon_smile.gificon_smile.gif Ellen

We will certainly reach out to the community once we gather some information and are ready to start planning things out. I do think people should hold off on posting their volunteering and suggestions until we ask for them or I can pretty much guarantee it will all get lost to us before we are ready to do anything with the information.

I know it is an exciting idea and now that it has been brought up people are going to want to talk about it, but Jackie and I are just not ready to absorb alot of random dialog at this time.

I am not trying to kill the excitement, I just don't want to create a situation where alot of people are offering their time and ideas and getting little to no response from us.

We will put together a plan, reach out for community feedback, adjust the plan based on the feedback, and then reach out for volunteers to help us make it happen.

Having a convention sounds like a great idea. It would be nice to put faces to the names and learn even more from each other.

In October, I attended the 5th annual Chicago Area Retail Bakers Association Creative Decorating Competition at Navy Pier in Chicago. They had demonstration tables, and the competitors created their cakes while you watched. It was very cool. The only thing I wished was that there were more competitors, there were only about 5.

I would be very interested in attending something that involved Cake Central and especially in Chicago.

Wow what a great idea. Chicago is pretty far for me, but i think I could swing it as a vacation. Especially planning something for summer 2007 is definitely doable.
I look forward to hearing more from our fearless CC leaders in the future about a convention.
