I want to make a really nice cake for my daughter who is going to be 10 in December. I was thinking about doing a sculpted number 10 cake but It I have no idea how I should decorate it. I want it to look super nice and original. Can anyone give me some ideas? All suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks
Jackie

Cindy:

She is on a bowling team and she loves anything that is "girly" (make-up , shoes, purses etc.)

katiebug: That is a very nice cake. Can you give me the instructions for making this cake. That is what I was looking for more or less. Is the edible glitter from wiltons? Can I buy at Michaels or should I order it online?

Thanks to all for helping
Jackie

Cute cake katiebug!

jmosquera,
You can get edible glitter at Micheals or Hobby Lobby, but sometimes it might be cheaper online.

Uggg I wish i had a better pic of the cake, was back before we bought a better digital camera. I just made a paper template of the basic design, then carved it out of a 11x15 sheet. Iced all in BC , and used the cans of spray color to tye-dye it. Yep , I used the wilton edible glitter (i crush the glitter with my fingers to make it a bit finer) I also just posted a purse/make up cake.

Jackie I have this cake decorating book that shows lots of number cakes all decorated to suit a theme. They are so cute and it got me thinking...you could do a 10 cake and make the 1 a bowling pin and the 0 a bowling ball.

Lisa:

Thanks for the idea that sounds really cute. Can you tell me what is the title of the book? I would like to get something like it.

Here is the cake I made. It has no theme because I had such a hard time with it. I decorated this cake like three times I was so frustrated that I just ended up doing this plain cake. It seems that whenever you want it to come out super nice for some reason it comes out the worst. I was not happy with this cake at all. When my DD saw it she said it was cute I guess maybe I'm too hard on myself or she was just trying to make me feel good. Anyway I'm glad it's over and here it is. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.
