don't fell bad .... I've always had the reputation for not cooking ...so this year I decided to clean up my image ...since I started baking a few months ago I figured I could show off my new found talents ....the meal was for 25 people ..... the turkey and everything was awsome... .... no one could believe that I had made everything from scratch .. I was the toast of the town ... all of the sudden I realize the stuffing is not on the table ?? icon_eek.gif .... I look at the kitchen and realize that no only did I leave it in the oven but it was on broil ... needles to say by the time I got to it it was charcoal icon_cry.gif ..... it smelled sooooo good I can't believe I didn't get to taste it icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Could you whip up a caramel of some sort and top them with that to add sweetmness? Might make an interesting pie.

OH NO!!! Could be salvagable...I like lgslgs' idea with the carmel, sounds good.

My MIL served her home "frozen" peach pie today, she is known for awful crusts but today the peaches did it. There must have been a bad peach in the bunch because the taste was awful...it wasn't just me, but others as well as herself. She threw the whole thing in the garbage! Ahhh, memories bless her heart!

I didn't find out about the sugar missing until my cousin asked. icon_eek.gificon_redface.gif

Pies were for family and we had a good laugh. icon_razz.gif

As for asking for future pies,I am the only one that bakes and also the only cakes that my niece and nephew will eat. icon_biggrin.gif

I forgot the eggs in the pumpkin pie one year. Baked that thing forever and it wouldn't tighten up. Had no clue what was wrong until I moved something and saw the eggs still sitting on the counter. icon_confused.gif

My little sister usually brings the desserts to all family functions, and does well most of the time. But once she forgot to add the sugar to the pumpkin pies, and that was about 5yrs ago, and now if she brings the pumpkin pies to a dinner everyone says did you add the sugar, bless her heart, she has never forgotten the sugar since, but she also will never live it down. She usually makes the most delicious, and unusuall deserts, but I am the only one who decorates cakes in the family, so they all get to try my cake experiments.

Oh no, that's terrible about forgetting the sugar. My only mishap this year was not finding the giblets and removing them from the turkey. They fell out when the bird was done.

I swear I searched that turkey all over (easily found the neck) but could NOT FIND THE GIBLET PACKAGE!! I just assumed maybe it fell out during packaging or it didn't come with them for some reason, only a neck.

As my hubby was carving the turkey he found it. icon_rolleyes.gif He will not let up about the darn giblets! I told him I had my arm in there up to my elbow and couldn't find the darn packet plus I even stuck my face in there tryinng to see it, LOL!

I almost forgot to take the giblets out - they were in the neck cavity that I almost decided not to stuff. Glad I did.

Forgot to add the sugar to the pumpkin pie. Thankfully we had 3 others plus a carrot cake. Needless to say nobody ate any of the pumpkin pie.

I tried to make blender hollandaise in my mother's crummy food processor. Didn't work. It never set up. Mom saved the day, though. Apparently she didn't have faith in my ability to make it so she bought a packet of Knorr that I made at the last minute.

Great turkey, though!

Well I was like you up at 3:00 because I had dinner to make and a sheet cake that was to be delivered that morning. I figured I would decorate the cake in the morning and start dinner. DH helped with making the stuffing while I was decorating. Finished the cake started stuffing the bird no problem. I also though they forgot to put the giblets in so no big deal til DH started carving the bird and found the bag. That and I miscalculated how long the bird needed to cook so we ate dinner a lot earlier than planned but that was ok. As soon as I get my pictures back I will post the cake I made. It was my first paid cake.

LMAO at a mental image of you with your head in a turkey....hehehe and then it goes to it getting stuck to your hubby putting his foot up on the counter for leverage while he is trying to pull it off of your head. LOL! icon_lol.gif

I think we all have our stories. Once my mom cooked the turkey and when she was carving it she found the drain plug to the sink inside the turkey. It must have gotten stuck inside when she was washing the turkey. We all had a good laugh!

It's so good to know I'm not the only one who messes up! I baked 6 pecan pies for a coffee shop and forgot to add the eggs! Needless to say--they were hard as a rock-like candy! What a disaster! I was rebaking pies at 2am.
