Any Ideas?

So my supervisor has asked me to make the cake for her husband's university graduation party, which is also celebrating his 30th birthday and re-enlistment in the navy.

She'd like me to make three seperate cakes, smallest for the navy, middle for the birthday and largest for graduation.

I'm having a hard time thinking of what I could do for each cake that would make it distinct but also tie in somehow to the others....

Any ideas/help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Just off the top of my head, you could tie them together with the color scheme. Maybe use that as a jumping off point to help get you started. What kind of degree is he graduating with and what are some of his hobbies? That may also help us help you with ideas! icon_smile.gif
Cake's a powerful food. Cake can actually bring people together. You know... "It's Bill's birthday" "Yeah, I hate that guy." "There's cake in the conference room." "Well, I should say hello."-Jim Gaffigan

Puzzle pieces...???? Maybe fit everything together with the afore mentioned color scheme.

I am seeing a set up like a wedding cake. Where you have each tier on it's own stand. This way they tie in together if you bring them together with the table set up. And they have their 3 different cakes. I hope this makes sense.

Can't wait to see what you do.

Frankly, I don't think I'd bother trying to coordinate the cakes. They're three separate celebrations, I think I'd leave it at that. Or if it really is bothering you, coordinate ribbons or balloons or something. Maybe even something as simple as doing the borders all the same (all shell borders, for example) would tie them together enough to satisfy you. Good luck and keep us posted with what you decide--tough call you've got there!

Since the graduation cake is to be the largest cake, find out what the colors &/or mascot for his university are. Let inspiration lead you from there. thumbs_up.gif
