I have done several cupcake cakes before but I always icing each cupcake individual to create a picture/design. I have seen some cc cakes that have been icing with one solid color with the apperance of a sheet cake. What should I fill in the holes with and how do I keep the cupcakes in place to get a smooth icing. Thanks for any advice. Kim

I always tack each cupcake down with a little icing so it doesn't move as I'm frosting. Also, I tend to make my cupcake cake icing just a little thicker than I normally would to ice a regular cake - that way I don't need to fill the gaps with anything. Has worked for me everytime.

Thanks
