This cake sure gave me a challenge
First off, her legs had to be cut off because she was to tall sitting on a plate and while cutting her legs...ouch, her top broke which was made from gumpaste, so I had to use stars to cover her naked bosom
While decorating her crown...dumb me, only made one...broke
First time covering a cake...used mmf and believe me, this was a challenge in itself. The bottom would not smooth, had puckers so I had to use #4B to try to cover them
Her wand, for some reason, would not stick to her hand so I had to use a little white carnation on her wrist which was not kickin' at all.
Poor Barbie, she ended up without a slim waist
The customer was satisfied so I guess that is what counts
Please give me some help on smoothing fondant
Thanks for letting me rant!!
Stephanie,
I think you did a great job. As for things breaking and only making one of them..... lesson learnt. Isn't that what we are all doing at this point.
Also, the customer was happy.... that is the most important.
Keep up the great work!
Gee it looks perfect to me and that is what big borders are for, did we forget to tell you that, haha! Ok, the rule is, a large border hides a multitude of sins, now remember that, haha! You did a wonderful job, she looks very pretty!
Hugs Squirrelly
I have yet to cover anything in fondant! VERY VERY SCARED. Attempted using MMF the other day on a dummy cake....what a mess I made. I still need to practice. I don't have a problem with tiny things to adorn a cake, but covering...whole separate topic. I love your end result. Your cake does look smooth and your customer was happy (the most imp. thing). Remember we are our WORST critics!!! Funny it's easy for me to say this and mind you I am laughing because my husband can't seem to get me to remember this to save my life when I am making cakes. He has even joked that next time I have a customer request for a cake he is going to rent a hotel room!!!!!!!! LMBO.
Thanks so much everyone...your compliments are trully appreciated.
Thank goodness for tip #4B, it really did save the day
Squirrelly, once again your good humor shines brightly
