I have an order to make a cake for a Bridal shower, which will be chinese themed.

I have the Chinese symbol for love, which was requested and know that she wants a red shiny finish to the cake, with black accents, plus whatever I think would go.

I am not really sure What to do.. Can ANYBODY help?

You might not need a cake this big but I thought it might give you some ideas...

This is fabulous. This is close to what I was thinking. What do you think the bamboo is, Fondant? What would you use to paint the accents on it?

Could be fondant. It's what I'd use. By accents, do you mean the chinese characters? I was thinking those might be royal icing/color flow pieces or they might be piped right onto the cake. They could also be made using strips of fondant. Not really sure. You could probably do it a number of ways.

I've seen one with a huge fortune cookie (made of fondant) with a message sticking out...and the message said something nice about having a long and properous life together...which they got when they "cracked" the fondant fortune cookie open along with an engagement ring inside!! It was sooo cool!
