I am so unhappy with this cake. It's not a freebie, so I'm not sure if I should just scrap it and start over. Please give me your honest opinions. Is it ok or should I re-do it? I don't want to disappoint my customer!

I think it is adorable! I wouldn't pitch it! I'm sur ethe customer will love it! How could a cake with a little boy that cute on it be ugly?

WHat don't you like about it? Perhaps if you could pinpoint it you could deal with what you see as the problem?

Hmmm..... I love the color of your cake. Can I ask a question here? Why is does the top border look so big? Is the cake a small one? I don't know, I like the cornelli and the stars on the photo and I like the way you did the border. It just seems to me that the top border is dispraportionate to the rest of the cake.

I think it looks really cute. I love the swirls and your cornelli lace is great. We are always our own worst critics. As emmascakes asked, what do you see that you don't like?

As a customer AND as someone who decorates cakes, I'd be very happy with it. And most non-cake decorating customers don't even notice things that a fellow decorator would. I think it is great.

Until I actually clicked on the photo and looked at it up-close, I couldn't tell that it had Happy Birthday written in the inner circle. Is it easier to read in person? Maybe you could make the writing stand out a little more with a different color? Like Jen1977 said, how could a picture with a little boy NOT be cute? I think the mother will be focusing on the adorable picture more than anything else.

Is it just my computer or are the eyes on the baby's picture white? Could just be my computer or the way the photo uploaded.
Looks good, (I do think the boarder is a little chunky as well).

It's a 1/4 sheet cake, I think that's why the border looks so big. What I don't like: 1. Crooked border 2. Colors aren't very discernable- they are pale blue and pale green to match the party invitation 3. Not sure if cornelli lace is appropriate for a 1 y/o's birthday. Also the cake didn't rise nice and tall! AAARGG!!!!

I think the site "blocks" the faces and such so that the people are not discernable.

The writing on the photo is easy to read in person. I whited out the eyes per CC rules about photo cakes.

I am telling you I do not see a crooked border. If the colors match the invitation I think its ok. I did not think that Cornilli lace matters if its for a boy or not. I like the way you did the cake. I do not think the border is too big.

I love your border! And your cornelli lace looks great! I would NOT through it out! I always second guess myself and I need to stop & so do you! icon_lol.gif

If you don't like your border, add some of those confetti looking swirls that are some of your other cakes to hide it and add more color.

Honestly? I love this cake I love the style and the colors but I have to admit that the crooked border was the first thing that caught my attention. I kept looking to see if maybe the cake itself was not centered on the cake board but I thinks its the actual border thats off, as for redoing it well thats up to you I dont do paying cakes only freebies for families and friends so I wouldnt do it over but for a paying customer I'll let the pro's give their opinions as they have the experience that I dont.

I think your cake looks great, maybe you could put another color in there or some colored confetti to make the cake pop.

ccwkg-"Your MUST crop or blur out, all people's faces before uploading your photos." This is found on the opening page when uploading photos, so I just used Paint to white out the eyes.

1. Crooked border Huh!
2. Colors aren't very discernable- they are pale blue and pale green to match the party invitation - If they match the invitation, they are perfect.
3. Not sure if cornelli lace is appropriate for a 1 y/o's birthday. -If he were older, I would agree but not at 1 year old.

It's a nice cake and what the customer ordered.

Since I have not made my sons birthday cake yet, and paid for his last year, I would have gladly paid for one like this one over what I've usually actually paid for. The cake is beautiful, the "lace" is not girlie, it's perfect for a baby. Love the border too!
