Hi CC forum,

I am open for suggestions on how to make shiny minature pumpkins. I saw a cake in the gallery I think that it was made out of MMF. Can anyone that knows how to do this please let me know. icon_confused.gif

There are a lot of pumpkin cakes ... which one are you looking at?

You can cover it with mmf then use luster dust for the shine...

On the one I did (check my photos), I had just used a lot of crisco on my hands when molding the pumpkins. The crisco makes them shiney.

MelC the cake you have posted with the minature pumpkins on it, kinda like that. Sue_dye can you tell me once you make the MMF what do you do and how do you the luster dust fix to the MMF.

Thanks,

Okay, my little pumpkin was covered with Mill Lane fondant which was tinted orange. Once the fondant was set but not dry (an hour maybe?) I dusted (with a large fluffy brush ... like a big makeup brush) a combination of bronze & gold dusting powders

After you put the fondant on the cake you then dust it with the luster dust. For dusting you can use a soft paint brush or makeup brush. Hope this is of some help to you. Good luck on your cake.
