Thank goodness I'm not cooking dinner at my house on Thursday, but I have 2 cakes to do this week. I guess I'll go begging for friends' kitchens. =(
Told DH I guess I want a new oven for Christmas (which I would love) but we're just getting a new element if we can even find one.
We just got done replacing that on our gas stove. I researched the stove and found out what part we needed and then DH fixed it. I bought the part new from a great eBay seller who even told us how to fix it. I might be able to help or give you the sellers name if you want it. He might have the part you need too.
Luckily ours is electric, so I think it will be a little easier to do, except it's a wall oven so I think we'll have to pull it all the way out. I'm going to call around tomorrow to see if I can find someplace local that has the part, if not I'd love to have the name.
Thanks!
we have an electric oven...I want to get a convection oven....I hear they are the best!
Must be the time of year or the recent full moon...my ovens broke also! In that same week, my dishwasher and TV went up too..argh!!
My TV has been threatening shutdown all year, it has bad moods mostly, we're just waiting for the tube to go out. And I thought my DW was broken, too! Haha, Mrs.Missey, we're on the same page again. With the dishwasher I couldn't get the darn thing to close and lock so I could start it. Turned out to be the clippy thing that screws it into the counter. It had come unscrewed at the top and was just hanging in the way of the door.
I'm secretly hoping a part can't be found and that I can get a new oven. I'd really love to have gas (mostly for the stove since I do a lot of cooking) and would also love a convection option.

We had to take apart the bottom of our stove just to get to the screws that held the ignitor in place. It looked difficult but all I had to do was hold the flashlight and give DH a big smooch when he was done. I was soooo happy to have my stove back. I hope you get yours back soon too...in gas and convection!
We had to replace the element in our electric oven, too. It was cheap and VERY easy. I did it myself. I LOVE my oven--would HATE to have to get a new one--convection or otherwise.

LOL a few weeks back, my oven and the tv broke on the same day. It broke locked in cleaning mode and we couldn't get it unlocked or turn it off (gas stove). I was dreaming of a beautiful new oven! Which one do you think DH fixed? $1000 later - DH has a new flat screen HDTV and I still have the finicky oven with only two gas burners working!
My father keeps telling me to get a spare element for mine in case of a cake emergency! I really need to do that.
