I'm doing gift baskets for Christmas and wonder if anyone has a good hot chocolate mix recipe they'd be willing to share? I've found several online, but would like to use a recipe that comes recommended!
Thanks. : )

I have one my family loves. I don't have exact measurements for you but I will try to get them. For cup, I use about 4 teaspoons of Swiss Miss, 1 teaspoon sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered coffee creamer. I haven't made any lately but I'll see if I can make some tonight and give you exact. I recommend using Regular Swiss Miss and not the Milk Chocolate Swiss Miss.

Hi! I don't know if this is the kind of recipe you're looking for, but as for recommendations, well, THIS ONE HAS MY WHOLE FAMILY'S THUMB'S UP! icon_biggrin.gif It's on the Hershey's Unsweetened Cocoa 23 oz. container available at Sam's Club. I'm not sure about copyrights & all so I'll just tell you that it's the FAVORITE HOT COCOA recipe that's on the side of the container & it makes 6 servings. We've only used the stove top recipe. It is really rich & foamy. It's also has simple instructions, and is soooo much better than "packets" of hot chocolate! thumbs_up.gif It might be on the smaller cocoa containers in regular grocery stores, too, but I'm not sure. Are you planning to put it in jars like the cookie recipe ingredients I've seen everywhere? What a great idea!!!

Here's my recipe, everyone requests it every year!

1 lb powdered sugar
2 lb Nestle Quick Powdered mix
1 large box ("Makes 8 qt") powdered milk
1 1/2 C Coffee Mate (regular flavor, powder)

Sift everything together. I sift 3 - 4 times. The powdered milk will still look clumpy, but will disolve in the water right away. This makes a ton, I usually turn my Rubbermaid cake plate lid upside down because I don't have a bowl big enough to hold it. Add 3 TBSP of mix per cup of hot water.

Good luck!!

Here's a link to the Hersheys Hot Cocoa recipe

I haven't tried it but a good friend of mine couldn't stop talking about how great it was when she made it.

OMG!!! Daranaco, that is the exact recipe I was referring to in my earlier post! icon_lol.gif You have just got to try it! It is delicious & worth the extra "effort". Beats hot water & powder any day. thumbs_up.gif

BTW, I just bought the BIG Carnation Instant Nonfat Dry Milk at SAM'S Club the other day & there is a HOMEMADE HOT COCOA MIX recipe on the back of the box-I haven't tried it yet, but here it is--

1 serving-combine milk, sugar & cocoa; stir in 1c. boiling water. Add marshmallows, etc.
1/2 c. dry milk
1-2 TBSP. sugar
1-1/2 TBSP. NESTLE TOLL HOUSE baking cocoa
mini marshmallows or whipped cream, opt.

4 servings (Pint jar)-combine dry milk, sugar & cocoa in large bowl. Pour into jar. Top with marshallows, if desired. Seal with lid.
RECIPE (attach to pint jar)-Measure 1/2 c. cocoa mix into mug. Stir in 1 c. hot water or milk. Makes 4 servings.

PINT JAR-
1-1/2 c. dry milk
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 + 2 TBSP. cocoa
1/2 c. mini marshmallows, opt.

12 servings (2-quart jar)-
6 c. dry milk
1-1/2 c. sugar
1 c. + 2 TBSP. cocoa
1-1/2 c. mini marshmallows, optional

HEY, is NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Baking Cocoa just unsweetened cocoa like HERSHEY'S brand? icon_confused.gif
