I am looking for a REALLY GOOD French Silk Pie recipe. I have found several on different recipe sites, but none seem to taste good. My family LOVES the perkins restuarant one & I have tried my best to find a recipe that tastes that way. They don't use whipped cream on the edges, but some kind of buttercream....hmm

Anyone have a good one?

Hi,
I have ever tried Perkins pies, but in the description on their French silk pie, it says they use real whipped cream topping...not anything like Cool whip.

ALLRECIPES has some really good recipes for this....I used one to make a pie for a lady who gets all her pies from Perkins and she said my pies were divine(her words, not mine)!!! And I had never made a French Silk Pie before.

The recipe I used was 'French Silk Chocolate Pie I' by Ruth. Her whole office tried it and my husband told me that they were all just raving over it....
Make sure you follow the directions about the eggs...whipping for a full 5 minutes after each egg. Also, make sure your butter is softened a little before you begin.

I used real whip cream on my pie. Not a meringue or cool whip.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to add that there are some issues with graininess because of the sugar....I tried some of the leftover chocolate filling after I finished making the pie, and got really scared cause I thought the filling might be grainy...cause the stuff I tried that was leftover, was a little grainy. However, the pie sat in the fridge overnight and my husband said it wasn't. I guess the chilling time helped out.

This is why I stressed to make sure your butter is softened first, because mine wasn't and I think that may have been the problem...the butter and sugar didn't cream like it was supposed to....I am making it again next week.

No problem...I hope it turns out well for you!!

My mom used to make this and I don't have any idea what recipe she used, but I do remember her using about a tablespoon of frozen concentrated OJ in it and it was awesome!
