Flavorings For Cookie Icing

has anyone "tinted" their royal iciing w/exract flavorings..strawberry, orange, etc? if so how does it affect the taste of cookie and how do you know how much to add? thanks gizzmo

Do you mean the Loran flavoring oils? I think you would need to use an awful lot of the flavoring to color your icing. I've used them before, and they didn't noticeably change the color.

I would think to tint the icing flavourings would work. With the RI as a friendly reminder, make sure the extracts do not have any oil in them. (I accidentally colored RI with the Wilton candy colors once, and learned quickly what a little oil will do to RI).

Why not flavor the cookies instead of the royal icing?
