Is there a difference between the two? I want to make a recipe that calls for knox gelatin ,but all i have is regular gelatin.

I remember something about Knox having more protien (i know of many BARF fed dogs have knox in there diet instead of regular gelatin)? But i'm unsure if Knox is just the brand name or not? Help?? icon_confused.gif

Hey

What do you mean by regular gelatin because that knox is the only brand my grocery store carries.
I also tried agar agar but that's a totally different breed.

I can never find Knox. I always have to buy Kroger brand plain gelatin.

Eew i'd never try wal-mart brand stuff. LOL icon_razz.gif

I think surprisingly Kroger and publix make pretty decent store-brand products. I sometimes go for the store brand because its still great quality(IMHO) and i get to save a dollar or two with my Kroger Card. icon_biggrin.gif

I guess i'll try it to see if it comes out how the recipe says. Wish me luck! icon_smile.gif

Thanks though ,ashianadotkom!

I used to work for Kroger and got a 10% discount on all their proprietary brand items. Most of the ones were as good as the name brand, some I preferred the Kroger brand.

I've used Kroger brand gelatin many times, and it's exactly the same thing as Knox. I think the only difference may be between unflavored and flavored (strength I mean, obviously not flavor)

gelatin can sometimes come from different sources - I buy beef gelatin at the health food store in bulk - waayyy cheaper than brand name...
