to practice decorating on? do you use plastic containers? cakepans? Do you cover them with something so that they're reusable? Any tips and advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Cake dummys, cake pans...the wife...or husband, whichever the case may be. Cover the cake dummy with saran wrap. Buy a box of cake boards, tape em together, cover em with saran wrap, decorate.
I usually tape some wax paper to a cookie sheet or a cake board and practice on that.. for the little stuff that is (writing etc...).. I just bought some cake dummies to practice on too...
Thanks for the suggestions. Just one more quick question.... What do you use to practice icing corners like for a square shape ?
Are cake dummies the styrofoam cut to size things?
If they are, how do you practice on them and then reuse them?
LOL, I was just giong to ask about practice methods, as I'm dying to do another cake and haven't got an event.
I just used playdoh to imitate fondant, because it's too costly to make fondant to practice.
What else do people do to reduce the cost of practice materials?
Well, I practice on an actual cake. Probably not the smartest thing, but nobody is complaining around here about eating the experiments!
LOL, there's only me and my DS around here, and no way to eat cake as fast as I want to decorate them!
