I have an order that wants ganache to cover the cake. The only problem is she wants it to be black.

My question is Can you color ganache? If so what type of coloring do you use?

Don't know of anyway to color it unless you are going to use white chocolate and color it that way. Just getting into this chocolate thing someone else may have a better answer for you. Good Luck.

I don't think coloring white chocolate will work. It will probably sieze up on you if you add color to it.

I don't think it would hurt if you add gel black coloring to the ganache once or while you are melting the chocolate. I would try a very small amount first to see if it works. Take a portion of the ganache out and put in a smaller bowl and try a drop or two of the coloring to see if it will work.

This is just a guess!

To make ganache use dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate. It will be already black.

If you add color just make sure you use chocolate colors and not regular icing colors. They shouldn't seize it up. If you're using dark chocolate or semi sweet chocolate as kriss said - the ganache will already be pretty dark to begin with.

I also reccomend(sorry i don't know how to spell) you add the coloring to the cream before adding it ot the chocolate. I think it'd make it much easier to color and mix.

I always think that anyone that wants alot of black or red icing don't really like their quests. I'd hate to walk around with a died mouth.

I'd use the darkest color chocolate you can find, then if she is deat set on black you can use the candy colors with it. Or you could always try the black color spray.

Okay, the customer called today and has changed her mind she now want it to be Bright Red and shiny.

Can I use White chocolate and color the Cream before I add the chocolate?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
