My mom and sister both enjoy doing it, when it's convenient (i.e. I have mini-cake in the freezer from excess batter and have made the frosting and have it in bags left over after I finish my project), but I am the only obsessed, do it for all ocassions one.

Just me...

although I know there are other folks in town who decorate cause there is a little cake supply store out of a woman's garage that's been there for 20 years. I can't imagine I am the only one keeping her in business, LOL.

I just don't know any of them. My friends look at me and think I must have all this time on my hands...nope, it's just that the time I do have this is what I choose to do with it. (for example I don't watch hardly any tv)

My family is all thousands of miles away so I don't get to share with them except by email.

I have one bud in my cake class that ends this week. We'll see what happens after class is done. Most of my friends are online. I've always been kind of a freak until I went to the world pastry forum last year and found friends that if they could see what's in my head, it would make sense to them. When I'm there, I'm home. When I'm at home, I'm pretty much on my own.

I have a friend that likes it but is not as obsessed as me.. icon_lol.gif

Her family and friends request some many cakes from that she is getting tired of it...

I don't get as many orders so I am not burned out.. icon_biggrin.gif

We talk about cake designs and cake shows when they come on TV and discuss the cakes that we do for other people...

Other than her, I don't have anyone else to talk, except for HEY, all of you at CC!!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I´m the only one. But my mum shared all "cake-holidays" with me. And my best-friend comes over nearly everytime I´m doing a cake just to "entertain" me and to keep an eye that I will do my best icon_biggrin.gif So both are really happy that I found CC icon_wink.gif

My sister (cakemommy) and I took classes together for about 6 months straight. With each of us doing a cake a week we were giving our cakes away to anyone who would take them! We got totally caked-out!!! Well anyway,

Then she moved and continued to perfect her skills and doing cakes for profit. I continued with my skills (we are different) and took more classes. I'm by myself when I do my cake decorating BUT I also belong to a local cake club!

So once I month we (about 45 of us) get together for an "official meeting" then we have dessert and one of us will demo a technique so we are always learning and seeing how someone else does something the we "think" we already know how to do. We also plan all year for our "Cakes on Parade" Cake Show and Contest. So we do some fund raising too, lots of committees, we all get along fairly well.

I don't do wedding cakes (too much pressure I guess). But because of my contacts in the "club" I can refer the customer to a home cake crafter. We are all aware of everyone else's skills and specialty. If I don't know how to do something I know someone who does. I also use this site a lot too.

For the last 22 years, it was just me. Recently, I got my Aunt into some decorating classes and she is getting ready to take her third. But, all my sons and DH all know the basic decorating lingo, just because they are around it so much, and they've all tried to decorate!!!

When I was growing up I watched my mom and her best friend decorate cakes. Over the years I have taken a few classes with my 2 sister in laws.
I was the only one that didn't take course 3 and now I am the only one that still makes cakes. I have a friend that I have given some pointers to and now she has taken classes. We share cake pans and it sure helps save on buying them. I also have some really old cake pans that were given to me by my friends friends mother who once won a cake competition with the pans it weight over 1200 pounds when finished. I thank her every time I use the pans because they bake AWESOME!
That's my story....

My Wilton instructor has been my friend for many years. She owns the cake supply store that I use. She is a great support and gets MANY calls from me at strange times! Also, one of the girls that took courses 2 and 3 with me lives in a nearby town. We've become friends because of the classes and are planning a "ROYAL ICING FLOWER-MAKING PARTY" sometime in the spring. We figured if the scrapbookers can have CROPS...we can have flower parties. We're gonna spend the whole day making a huge supply of our RI flowers! I can't wait!

I have a good friend here in OKC that took classes with me. It's nice to have someone to refer cakes to when I am unable to do them. And then my sister in Fort Smith - we have fun decorating together - we get a bit giggly at times since we are usually up at midnight decorating, but we turn out some pretty good looking cakes together.

My mom took Wilton type classes when I was little, and it was something I always wanted to do, and I watched her growing up. I have a few friends that are interested, one just did her sisters wedding cake, after taking my course 3, she is a natural. One of my closest friends took C1, and a few of my fondant project classes. No cake club in Ottawa, to my knowledge. : (

Sofiasmami...I usually bake, from scratch, at least 3 desserts for Thanksgiving each year, 2 pies and a cheesecake. Personally, I LOVE the planet we are from! lol

My good friend used to come over and keep me company while decorating but she moved to Texas. My husband is always in and out of the kitchen while I'm decorating. He helps with ideas and he's always honest about how things are coming out so he's good to have around. My sister in law also loves to bake but she doesn't have much experience decorating. Although she is practicing. We both have little boys (mine is 19 months and her son is 9 months) so we don't have a lot of time to get together and decorate, but it's something I'm looking forward to in the future!

I'd love to know of any cake clubs around Lewiston/Auburn or Portland, Maine if anyone is from around here and knows...
