Okay, after reading everything I'm gonna have to try one of these puppies!

Question: can I use a cake pan in place of a jelly roll/cookie sheet or will this affect the overall product? I have the cookie sheets w/o sides however i envision the batter just running off it.....

You don't want the cake to cook up to thick. The 10x 15 jelly roll pan works great. The 11x15 half sheet pan should work ok too, just line the pan with wax paper and your good to go. I made two and everyone loved them.

Okey dokey, the cake is cooked. Wow! That is the fastest cake I have EVER baked! And so easy to put together! The house smells like I just baked a pumpkin pie, too!

So here is my next question...how long do I wait before I fill it? Until the roll is completely cooled? 20, 30 mins?

I can't wait to taste this, it just smells sooooo good!

I waited until mine was pretty much cooled down. When I picked it up and started to unroll it, it felt a little warm in the middle but it worked fine! Don't ya just love how easy they are? A little messy but not too bad. Good luck!

My cracking problem was that I waited to long before adding the filling. I let it cool almost completely. On my second one I only cooled it about 10 min or so and had no cracks.

I delivered the second one to one of my best customers this AM, as a suprise. I told her it was Thanksgiving and I was Thankful for her. She was so shocked and happy. I love the look on peoples faces when you give them something. I think she will be a life time customer and I expect several orders from her through the holiday season.

I found that the best way to time your "cooling off" period for the cake is to only let it cool long enough to make the filling. Works for me every time!

I let mine cool until it felt barely warm on the outside and then filled it.

Can I say how yummy this concoction is?!? Wow! I found I had too much filling so for the next one I'll make half but, boy oh boy, this one is a definite keeper. Hubby and girls loved it as well and it was so easy to make! I had intended to make this one for my MIL however it's not gonna make it...oh well, I'll just have to make another one! icon_wink.gificon_lol.gif

Sorry, I never got a chance to get back to this post. I made 6 PR & they all turned out wonderful! thumbs_up.gif This is the easiest thing I have ever made!!

One of my friends came over that night... I let her sample one that I saved for me, DH, MEEEEE! She loved it! She wound up eating 3 big pieces! icon_eek.gif She begged & begged me to let her take one home. She said she'd pay me $20 for it! I wouldn't let her pay me! She did get one though! icon_smile.gif

I swept & mopped my kitchen 2 times! Powder sugar was everywhere. Then yesterday I put up all my Christmas deco & there was powder sugar on my entertainment center & end tables! icon_smile.gif

I gave the PR to my neighbor's, FD, DH's work, & we had enough left for Thanksgiving. I think my BIL might like me now... icon_surprised.gif he loved them! thumbs_up.gif

QUESTION.....

Does anyone have a recipe for Sweet Potato Rolls??? I bet that would be a tasty roll!!!! Just like the PR w/ SP instead. YUMMY!! icon_razz.gif

I'm glad someone started this post because now I just might make some money on these next year! Or maybe even Christmas! thumbs_up.gif

I was nib noseing through the bakery at the grocery store tonight and they had PR, jelly rolls, and what looked like a choc cake with cream filling rolls. I am on a mission now....

I was a bit disheartened though to learn their prices. The PR was $6.00. The rest were $2.99!!!!
Their full sheet cake was $29.00!!!!! said it served 65!!!

Another question. For those of you who sell them for $12-$14, do you know how much profit you're making off of them? Curious...my mom is nagging me about it, and I am so super busy, I just don't have the time to sit down and figure it all out!

Also, I had been making so many, and I was getting so darn frustrated with the sticking - no matter how much PS I used - it still stuck! I tried parchment paper sprinkled with PS - not one spot stuck! And using it over and over is OK! Those darn tea towels are only good for one use - until washed and dried.

Just thought I'd share!!!!

I have about $3.63 in the plain pumpkin rolls and about $5.20 in the ones with nuts. Sometimes lower when the ingredients are on sale.

I bought plain white pillowcases at Marcs really cheap and cut them into 8 pieces and those worked really good. I'll have to try the parchment paper...so when it comes out of the oven you turn the cake onto the parchment with ps and roll it up? That would be alot easier and less expensive. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, pretty much. I have tried so many differnet things hoping it would be better at not sticking. When they come out of the oven, I let them cool in the pan for about 3-4 minutes, then flip them onto powder sugar covered parchment paper. Roll up, etc, etc.

I could almost tolerate doing them that way! icon_razz.gif

I went into super mode Sunday night and made 7 in 5 hours. I still have 7 more to do for this coming Monday! icon_cry.gif

Pooker: have you tried flipping it out right from the oven and not letting it cool at all? I'm not sure if it would help, but I take mine right out and flip right away. My husband says I must not have any feeling in my hands anymore because I burn them all the time and don't even feel it so just be careful if you try it icon_biggrin.gif

That's what I was doing in the beginning, but they were sticking so I tried letting them cool a few minutes, and they still stuck. With the parchment paper, I may try flipping them right away...just to save a few minutes time!

I can't wait til they're done! I've got my dad's birthday cake due this Saturday and my DD's birthday cake next weekend! icon_eek.gif
