Pumpkin Roll Question... - Page 5

Hi Everyone
I have been keeping up with this topic. I will be trying to make one today, so wish me luck. I will let you all know how it comes out later.

I made one Sunday. It was very easy and my son loves the taste of it. I'm going to be making gift baskets for my brother and sister and my DH sister and their families for Christmas this year and I'm going to include one in each basket.

I have taken that green-colored transparent floral paper (don't know what it's called) and wrapped the pumpkin roll up in that. Then I took red ribbons and tied the ends up like a tootsie roll. Does that make sense? It was really cute!

Good luck Sue! You will have fun with it.

Pooker: icon_lol.gif I stayed last night until 11:30 cleaning powdered sugar off of everything!! I definitely don't want to see any more pumpkin rolls at least until Christmas. Too bad I have to make more tonight icon_lol.gif

I think I will have to move my price up a bit...when people were picking them up they were surprised at how large they were. I think maybe next year at least $15 a piece.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I've just read all of your posts and this sounds delicious! Could you do it at Christmas or is it more of a Thanksgiving item to you?

I would think either! I've gotten 13 more orders for Christmas already! They are too addicting! I'm just tired of making them... icon_lol.gif

ge978 - I was too tired to clean up last night. I've got to do it today...and make more food for tomorrow! icon_cry.gif

Once I get my technique down, I may up the price. Right now, I am having trouble getting a consistant turnout from batch to batch. At least I got them to stop sticking as much!!! thumbs_up.gif

OK All of you pumpkin roll experts, I have been following this thread from the beginning. I baked my first roll this PM. Why is it cracking? What did I do wrong? Leave it to me to screw this up... I may have rushed unrolling it, it was cooled but not quite room temp. I am going to try it again now. I am using the Libby receipe.

TC: you remind me of my kids...can't keep them out of the pumpkin rolls either! icon_lol.gif

Newtodecorating: Did it crack when unrolling? I only leave mine rolled up with the towel for about 10-20 minutes, unroll, fill and then reroll. You might have made it too thick or let it cool too much.

Hope this helps!

Hey everyone. I tried my first pumpkin roll yesterday. I used the Libby's recipe. It tastes pretty goo. I think my pan may have been too large or soemthing because at the edges it was a little thin and stuck to the wax paper! So needless to say it wasn't really pretty but it did taste good. Thanks everyone for all of the information!!! Hope everyone has/had a great Thanksgiving!!
