Guten Morgan all! I need ideas for Spring-themed cakes. I'm making one today, and I'm sure that I'll make more. Mostly I'm called upon to make sheet cakes. I'm thinking for the one today to just put daffodils and.... some other flowers (see, that's where I'm stuck)... I want a new way to arrange them too, not just your typical spray... anyone have pictures? Spring flowers.... HELP!! I can make the flowers, I just don't know how to arrange them.

well to start off with, don't forget the sides of the cake ... daffodils are my absolute favorite flower, and I can't do them.... but want to try!! Instead of a spray, since you don't really want that anyway, why not do the different flowers as the borders, with stems and leaves sort of hanging over the sides....Make the daffodils come from the sides up and I think they will stick out just right..... lil bees flying around... it will be perfect I am sure!!!!! I have to do at least 20 individual egg cakes for my sons 1st grade spring fling party on Friday, and think I will do a little mmf.... hey maybe do that as the main choice of frosting, mmf then put all the flowers like stated above! oh man!!! I love spring..you go girl! don't forget to post!!!!
maybe you can add some butterflys or a few lady bugs( painted color flow spots) I too need to lear the art of arranging cake flowers. I hope you get a lot of tips on this post. so I can learn too!
Here's an ideas:

You could probably make the flowers with icing and it would still look really pretty.
Here's another one, if you don't mind making royal icing flowers: http://www.wilton.com/recipes/recipesandprojects/wedding/thrivingromance.cfm and instead of the bride/groom topper, you could make some wired-stem royal icing flowers and put them in a flower spike (or straw).
I wanted to do this as my wedding cake, and I might just yet.

Do you do buttercreme or chocolate tranfers at all? There is an endless source of kids' coloring pages online. Here is a link given to me by a friend that is a coloring page search engine. Just type in what you're looking for!

Hope that helps!
