I have an order for a full sheet cake made to look like a magazine cover. They want marilynn M. on it-I know how to get her on the cake, what I am worried about is all the printing on the magazine cover-you know the "titles" of the articles. Straight lines, even letters etc.
Has anyone done a cake like this??? Tips??
Thank you !!

Yep, I have done a few of the magazine covers. Here is one of them! I like to do a bar code and make it the month/day/year they were born. It's also fun to include everything that relates to that person!

It is an edible image..I scanned some pics and added graphics to make it look like a Cosmo mag.

I'm sorry, I don't have a pict to post...
I love the magazine pict that you posted mrsMissey-love the barcode idea!! Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to get an edible image done in time, so it will all have to be icing!!

What about writing out any small print using edible ink markers on rice/wafer paper or frosting sheets?

Mrs Missey,

I am thinking of getting the edible printer.....but I was wondering is it hard to clean after you use it? I have been reading alot about them and I know they come with the cleaning cartridges, but I wanted an experts opinion.

Thanks

I'm not MrsMissey but I print edible images too and the printer isn't difficult to keep clean. You just insert the cleaning cartridges and print a picture or run a cleaning cycle.

I have also found that if you use the printer often enough...you do not need to use the cleaning cartidges. Mine gets clogged every time I put them in for some reason. However, I print several images a week and have not had any problems at all.

As for the magazine cover...You may have to do a BCT or gel transfer and then create your own writing. You might do a google search of a magazine and use it for an example.

You could do butter cream transfers of the headlines and bar codes
I use print shop to make magazine covers with the kids at school.
I made this one for you just to give you an idea.

You could just print out the words and do a colorflow or BCT?
